Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Verify Hardware Connection

Ensure the JLR DOIP VCI or SX-tool dongle is firmly connected. Check LED indicators: solid green = power OK, blinking = communication active, red = fault. Try a different USB port or cable if the device is not recognized.

Check Drivers & Software Version

Open Device Manager and confirm the VCI appears without errors. Update to the latest driver from our download page. Ensure your diagnostic software is the latest supported version. Outdated drivers cause 80% of connection issues.

Verify Vehicle Communication

Confirm the ignition is in position II ( dashboard lit, engine off ). Check the OBD port for damage or corrosion. Try a different vehicle if possible to isolate whether the issue is vehicle-side or tool-side.

Review Error Logs

Collect any error codes, screenshots, or log files from the diagnostic software. Include your VIN, model year, and module part numbers. This information is essential for our engineers to diagnose the issue remotely.

If the issue persists after the above steps, submit a support ticket with all gathered information. For urgent programming issues, request a remote session and our engineer will connect directly to your workstation.
